On the final day of MotoGP 2025, or the first day of 2026, Pedro Acosta embarked on an intensive testing session, with aerodynamics taking center stage. KTM presented two fairings for evaluation: one from the 2025 MotoGP season and a new design heavily inspired by Ducati's recent success.

The updated fairing boasted large downwash ducts at the front, a distinctive bulbous section at the rear, and small sidepod wings, resembling a modern take on Ducati's proven design. Additionally, KTM incorporated the front wings they introduced mid-season, aiming to enhance stability and performance.

But here's where it gets controversial... Acosta highlighted the complexities of evaluating aerodynamic changes. "With aero stuff, there are many grey areas," he said. "It's not as simple as black and white."

After the test, which was adjusted due to overnight rain, Acosta expressed the challenge of making immediate decisions. "Some things made me really happy, but now the team has to analyze everything with the data."

Despite the challenges, Acosta remained optimistic about the work accomplished. "We spent the entire day testing aero components, and it was quite satisfactory. Our strong points are stronger, but our weak points are still weak. I believe the factory is doing a good job, and I think some improvements are already visible."

However, the lack of running in the morning made it difficult to complete the entire test plan. "There was more to try, but it was a mess not being able to ride this morning," Acosta explained. Prioritizing aerodynamics, he spent the day conducting back-to-back tests with the standard fairing and the new design.

Acosta's hard work paid off, as he finished the day as the fifth-fastest rider, just 0.039 seconds ahead of the second-best KTM rider, Maverick Vinales, in sixth place.
